There is so much happening over the next few days, we had to split the array of activities into two blog posts! The active social season officially kicks off this weekend, making it the perfect time to visit, whether for a vacation or to scope out real estate in Palm Springs.
For starters, this Friday, October 10, the Pumpkin Patch and Amusement Park at Westfield Palm Desert kicks off. This holiday event is perfect for the entire family—it’s packed with Kiddie Rides, a Giant Slide, a Fun House, refreshments, games and prizes to benefit Animal Samaritans. The event runs through Friday, October 31, from 3:30 pm to 10 pm each day.
On Saturday, October 11 from 11 am to 4 pm, the popular Living Desert will host La Gran Fiesta. This unique festival celebrates Hispanic culture with live music, dancing, games, keeper chats, delicious refreshments and more. The event starts at 11 am and ends at 4 pm. If you’re considering real estate in Palm Springs, the Living Desert is a must-see—it’s a unique public desert botanical garden and wildlife zoo that you will love visiting when you’re a local.
On Saturday from 7 pm to 9 pm and Sunday, October 12 from 2 pm to 4 pm, the Indio Performing Arts Center will feature Unforgettable: The Nat King Cole Songbook, a tribute concert by Sheldon Craig, accompanied by a live 9-piece jazz band. The audience will hear some of the music icon’s most famous songs, including “Papa Loves Mambo,” “Mona Lisa,” Route 66” and “Walkin’ My Baby Back Home.”
Also on Saturday, the Fantasy Springs Casino will host a performance of The Experience Hendrix Tour from 8 pm to 11 pm. This incredible show features a bevy of superstars, including Jimi Hendrix’s own legendary bassist Billy Cox. At the Spotlight 29 Casino, standup comedian Bill Burr will bring his show to the stage from 8 pm to 11 pm.
On Sunday, October 12 from 7 am to 3 pm, the beautiful Palm Desert Aquatic Center will be the site of the Y BE FIT Palm Desert Challenge triathlon event, to benefit the Family YMCA of the Desert. There are separate events for walkers, runners and triathletes of all levels.
