The Art Place in Palm Desert
Leave it to Palm Springs to kick off the year in style with an eclectic array of fun activities this weekend, ranging from First Friday art walks and receptions to a 5K that supports local programs. On Friday, January 3 from 2 to 7 pm, the El Paseo Art Walk will be in effect from 4 to 8 pm on the famed El Paseo Boulevard, a favorite of those who own Palm Desert real estate, known for its chic, upscale boutiques and fine art galleries. The event takes place every first Friday of the month from November through May and features gallery showings of a variety of genres, from Western and contemporary art to classic, impressionist and modern. Many stores and restaurants participate with extended hours and special menus.
From 2 to 7 pm, The Art Place will feature The Artwalk: Randy Harris. Another favorite of local owners of Palm Desert real estate, The Art Place is a unique area with 13 galleries, as well as artists’ studios, a specialty flower shop, and art, furnishing and accessory stores. The Art Place is located at 41801 Corporate Way, right in the center of Palm Desert.
On Saturday, January 4 at 8 am, The Galen New Year’s Resolution 5K will send runners, walkers and dogs through a USATF-certified course that begins and ends at The Galen building in The Palm Springs Art Museum in Palm Desert.
On Saturday from 5 to 8 pm, The Show at Agua Caliente Casino will host the Up & Comers MMA sporting event. The Show is located at 32-250 Bob Hope Drive in Rancho Mirage.
