About The Ironwood Neighborhood
Ironwood Country Club is a private member owned and operated golf community, located in prime South Palm Desert. It is tucked high against the Santa Rosa Mountains with sweeping views across the desert floor to the north. This diverse 800 acre club offers its members, and homeowners, a serene and private setting with the utmost of first-class club amenities. Arnold Palmer was instrumental in Ironwood’s beginning back in 1974. The Club has a variety of memberships available by application and sponsorship. Membership in the Club is not a requirement of owning a home in this community, but does require sponsorship. There are two beautiful 18 hole golf courses, with two practice facilities, a putting practice area in front of the clubhouse & spikes where one can order lunch or breakfast, and pick up food on the turn while playing golf. .The beautiful clubhouse has casual, formal and outdoor areas for dining and socializing, and many social activities for members to participate in. The separate fitness center offers exercise equipment, fitness classes, Pilates, pickle ball, tennis, spa treatments and fitness professionals who teach classes and offer one on one training, Ironwood Country Club is centrally located near El Paseo with its world class shopping and dining, and the McCallum Center and its array of performance entertainment offerings.
Its two 18 hole golf courses, originally designed by Desmond Muirhead and Ted Robinson with Palmer’s input, have recently undergone a $5 million dollar redesign. This came along with a $24 million dollar reconstruction of the Tuscan style, 50,000 sf Clubhouse, Sports Center and Turnaround (halfway) Café.
