Whether your work week is dragging or you’re in town searching for Palm Springs real estate and are ready for a break, this is a great time to check out the community. Even though it’s just a Wednesday, the desert cities are hosting a slate of activities that promise to get you through the midweek slump. Check out the lineup for this Wednesday, May 21.
From 5:30 to 8 pm, the Wolfgang Puck Pizza Bar will host Paint, Sip & Inspire, where participants make a great piece of art to take home. Painting supplies are provided at the event. At 7 pm, a performance of Cabaret Theatre West presents Meet Us “At The Copa” will take place at the Desert Willow Golf Resort. The production takes the audience down memory lane to pay homage to all the legendary musicians who performed at the Copa, including icons such as Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Carmen Miranda, Tony Bennett, Peggy Lee, Bobby Darin, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra.
From 6 to 8 pm, the Annenberg Theater will host a free screening of Llyn Foulkes One Man Band, featuring a Q&A afterwards with director Tamar Halpern and painter and musician Llyn Foulkes. The compelling documentary includes commentary from George Herms and Dennis Hopper, and chronicles years 70 through 77 of Llyn Foulkes’ artistic journey and struggle for recognition. In addition, from approximately 7:30 to 9 pm, the Annenberg Theater will host the Emerging Collectors Reception: Light Supper & Hosted Bar following the screening. The event provides the opportunity to enjoy an entertaining and educational reception and viewing of a special exhibition featuring works acquired with the fundraising and support of the Contemporary Art Council. The wonderful Annenberg Theater is a cultural center in the desert cities; a must-see for anyone considering Palm Springs real estate.
