Wave Parks in Coachella Valley? When you think of the Coachella Valley, I’m pretty sure you don’t immediately think “what a great spot for a wave park!” Desert however, DOES mean sand and heat, so I guess if you focus on that, then a Wave park starts to make sense. Looks like there are several Wave Parks being proposed for the Desert Valley, so maybe we’re going to be catchin waves out here soon…local Realtor, Kim Kelly, can help with your Real Estate questions at 760-285-3578.
One development company is looking at La Quinta, according to The Desert Sun, and maybe just in time since California legislators are drafting a bill that aims to streamline the development of artificial surfing attractions. There is a large parcel of land just West of the gorgeous Andalusia Golf Course development, that is approved for a golf course and homes, but the new developer is doing some design changes. I guess a golf course uses as much or more water? In Palm Springs, a wave pool is underway at the old Wet ‘n’ Wild Water park, where Pono Partners is renovating the existing attractions and plan to add a new wave pool. They’re hoping to open the Palm Springs Surf Club in 2020.
Seems there’s a bit of a “wave pool race” underway-meaning different developers are hustling to be the first company to market. Surf Park developers have been circling Palm Desert for about 5 years, and there is a Hawaii based Honokea Surf Villages & Resorts who is hinting at Indio for their Wave park. There’s even an assembly bill introduced earlier in the year that would regulate the new wave of of artificial surf parks. Sounds like the Wave Park is in our desert future! The farm below is for sale, and in a perfect location for a Wave Park.
