What to do in the Coachella Valley heat? It’s HOT here in the desert right now. Key word being “desert”, so that shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. As a local Realtor, my summers remain busy showing property, but there is still lots of time in the heat. First off, get up Early; I mean really early! It’s gorgeous at 4-5 a.m., and since you need to be in the shade or A/C by 11, that gives you 5 hours or so to get some stuff done!! There are lots of fun and interesting things to do in the summer here in the Coachella Valley.
One of the favorite things to do in the coachella valley heat, is of course, to find a swimming pool and SWIM! We have plenty of public pools that have lap swimming, and also open swimming, if you don’t have your own. Save the gym for the heat of the day, and use the morning hours to hit one of the many hiking trails, BUT, do NOT go hiking if there are heat advisories. And for heavens sake, leave your dog at home. We humans need to be smart about our limitations and those of our pets.
Horse people are still riding early mornings, or early evenings. Bikers continue to ride bikes, even in the desert heat, as we have amazing biking paths throughout the desert cities, but again…go BEFORE the extreme heat. Head up the hill to Idyllwyld for the day, hit the antique stores in Joshua Tree, take the time to stroll through the museum in Palm Springs or La Quinta. And did I mention the golf? So great in the summer because there are discounts at all the courses. I hit more golf balls in the summer than the entire season!
And of course you can always go looking at real estate!
