On Thursday, October 23 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm, the Marks Art Center at College of the Desert will host Artist’s Talk with Lalo Alcaraz. This free event features award-winning political cartoonist Lalo Alcaraz, who will speak in conjunction with the exciting exhibition, Locolandia. Alcaraz’s impressive career includes co-hosting KPFK’s long-running satirical radio talk-show, the “Pocho Hour of Power,” the creation of the nationally syndicated daily comic strip “La Cucaracha,” and a current gig as writer and consulting producer for Fox Television’s upcoming animated series, “Bordertown.”
Also on Thursday, the Palm Desert’s Civic Center Park Amphitheater will host Concerts in the Park: The Long Run from 6 to 7:30 pm. This free concert under the stars series is a favorite of locals and the spectacular park is a must-see for anyone considering Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage and La Quinta homes for sale. The featured band, The Long Run, is a popular Eagles tribute band. Sponsored by the City of Palm Desert, the event also features games, raffles and children’s activities before the concert, provided by the Family YMCA of the Desert.
From 6 to 9 pm, the Desert Willow Golf Resort will be the site of Music and Dining Under the Stars featuring Chris Compton Jazz Trio. Throughout the season on select Thursday evenings, the beautiful resort will host some of the region’s premier music acts, ranging in genre from classic rock to contemporary jazz, all amidst the majestic vistas the resort boasts.
