The newest Music Festival to be added to the Coachella Music Festival line up is Desert Trip. So what’s the big deal?? Another Music Festival in Coachella..what’s the big deal? Well it DOES matter, and it IS a big deal! This will be the first time a Fall Music Festival will be held at the Polo grounds in Indio, CA. Two weekends of staggering shows have come together, and tickets were snapped up immediately! A fall Music Festival, that is very different from the Coachella style, will be another boost for the entire Valley, states Kimberley Kelly, local Realtor.
A study from the Development Management Group, released in March by the Coachella Valley Economic Partnership and Greater Palm Springs Visitor’s Board expected the three weekends in April alone to generate $403 million for local businesses in 2016. (Desert Sun 5/9/2016). That is an enormous income for local business people..and especially since the East Valley cities of Indio and Coachella, just are not as familiar to valley visitors. They learn where they are, and what they provide them during their Festival visits. Researchers expected Indio to collect around 3.18 million from ticket taxes, comprising about 5% of it’s general fund.
If ONE Desert Trip weekend generates a third of that three weekend total, it could bring approx. $130 million to the Valley, and $1 million directly to the City of Indio! From a local Realtor’s point of view, and especially a local Realtor that works extensively in our Eastern end of the Valley, the addition of another couple weekends, is tremendous exposure. People considering looking for houses in the Coachella Valley, have to GET here first! If they don’t golf, they may never have had the opportunity to experience the incredible weather and general VIBE of our laid back Eastern cities. There are some really popular communities in Indio, CA., that are near to the Polo Fields, such as Desert River Estates, Madison Estates, Montage, or The Orchard.
Because Hotels are already responding to even more demand, many Investors, or winter residents are looking to purchase homes that they can live in part time, and perhaps lease for a weekend or two during one of the 5 weekends of the Music Festivals. Desert Trip has an approx. cap of 75,000 people each day, and both weekends in October are already sold out. With groups as renowned as the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney and more, Desert Trip, will bring another group of new and returning visitors to our amazing Coachella Valley. Mornings before the concerts are a great time to sneak out and check out the real estate inventory.
