Equestrian Update as we head into 2016 Season: Hard to believe, but the extreme Summer Desert heat is becoming just a memory. Though I have to admit that the last couple days have been pretty humid, and temps are still in the 90’s. My unheated swimming Pool is still at 80-81 degrees so I’m still swimming my daily laps. I’ve started riding the Horses in sets early in the mornings, in preparation for their move to Deer Creek on November 1. I’ve also seen an uptick in local traffic..both on the streets and in the stores and restaurants. Our Equestrian Residents are returning to town and I see rigs on a daily basis, taking their polo ponies out to pasture to rest. Have seen several large hauling vans with Hunter/jumpers arriving early as well. Horse people are preparing for the 2016 season already! It’s a great time to think about looking at Equestrian Farms and Land in our amazing East Valley.
The Eldorado Polo Club’s fields are looking holey right about now as the aerator has been very busy the past week or so. The office will open for season sign ups and stabling assignments on November 1. Stabling players will begin arriving in November and December. The Track officially opens for use on November 1, and the stick-n-ball fields open on December 6. League play begins on January 7.
Empire Polo Club is winding down their summer Polo, and preparing for the Arena Polo events in November. The Empire Polo Club has become a year round Polo Club and a world renowned Events Venue. Home to the Internationally renowned Coachella Music Festival, Stagecoach Festival, and many other events including a Huge Dog Show, and RV show..it’s the Club that keeps on giving! I understand the VIP cabanas are SOLD OUT for Sunday Polo game viewing, but there are VIP areas as well as General admission passes available for Sunday Polo Games. Tournament play will begin the weekend of January 3 & 4.
Let’s head over to the Thermal HITS schedule for all our Hunter/Jumper competitors coming to our beautiful desert valley. Pretty big news on this front. Last season saw the first attempt at extending the HITS show venue by adding 2 weeks of events in end of October/first week of November. It was a smashing success!! This year, the National Sunshine Series will again open the 2016 season with 2 weeks of classes. HITS Sunshine Series Schedule. We are expecting a busy winter here in the Palm springs Valley. Bring your families, your friends, your fellow horse people..and your horses, and join us!!
