Why did the buyers use a Redfin Agent? They wanted to see one of my listings. The Agent called and made the appointment. I got there early of course and staged the home to present it for my sellers at it’s BEST. The Agent walks in, introduces me to her clients, says, “You can take it from here.”, and hands me her card..Oh no! Why did they bring A Redfin Agent ? Red flags all over the place for me..please, buyers, use a local Agent...
There is nothing more fun as a List Agent than working with an educated, articulate buyers’ agent that is doing their job and protecting their buyers interests. I love it when the buyers’ agent makes astute observations, asks questions, encourages their buyers to look around and spend time if they need to. But by the same token, there is almost nothing more irritating than a buyers’ agent who knows zip about the area, the homes, the development, the builder, the comps, the upgrades, the general area.
It is the Buyers’ Agents’ job to protect their Buyer by educating them about the property and the area. It is their job to try to match their buyers with a property. When the buyers’ Agent comes into my listing, and says, “Take it from here.”, from the moment their clients come into the property, it means they want ME to sell it to their buyers, yet I make no more money, in fact if the sale happens, I just made it for them! I as the List Agent, work for the Seller. That means I want to sell the property for my seller, so being a professional, I WILL step in and educate their buyer..and them as well.
Why would a buyer use a Redfin Agent, who often just opens homes for the “Area Redfin representative.” They don’t get paid much for a reason..they aren’t worth much. If buyers think they are “getting a deal” with a Redfin Agent..because they read it online on, let me guess..Redfin? I’m not sure, but, what I am sure of is that I have not worked with one Redfin Associate yet that is competent, and has made the effort to educate themselves and their buyers about the property and the area. I know from experience, that if your Redfin Agent does get into an escrow with me, they will have no idea about documents, disclosures, due dates, or negotiating..you are NOT getting the best representation!
Please buyers..get a good, local, buyers Agent to work for you. It doesn’t cost the seller that much more in commission, and the level of service isn’t even comparable. In Real Estate representation..remember that you truly do “get what you pay for.” I’ve found that to be true in most things!! The estate in the video is a secret, known only to locals, and for sale only if the price is right..
