Gen Z Homebuyers. Who’s buying homes in the age group of 18-26? This is an interesting take on who is actually buying homes in the space of June 2024-June 2025. This survey and the data was covered in the LA times this last week, and the findings are very interesting. Local resident and agent, Kim Kelly 760-285-3578.
According to this survey, conducted by the National Assn. of Realtors, begins by pointing out that Gen Z women are outpacing their male counterparts when it comes to buying a home. The gals accounted for 35% of all homebuyers in their generations, while single Gen Z men represented 18%. The group surveyed people from several age groups, gen z 18-26 to the silent generations, ages 80-100. No other generation had a bigger share of single women homebuyers than Gen Z.
This data is the latest sign that single women overall are becoming homeowners at greater rates than single men. Single women during this 7/24-6/25 purchased 25% of homes, and single men accounted for 11% of all home purchases. Turns out this has been a long standing trend going back at least to 1981. At the height of the home sales during 2006, the share of homes purchased by single women peaked at 22%, and single men peaked at 12%. Hmmm. I purchased both of my homes as a single woman, so doesn’t feel odd to me, but interesting stats.
The Coachella Valley offers lots of residential choices and price ranges, from entry level homes in the $250-$400,000 price range, to well priced over 55 communities to extreme luxury golf course/estate homes. Take a look at this cute La Quinta cove home that is SOLD, but the La Quinta Cove is a great area for first time homebuyers.
