La Quinta, Gem of the desertd
La Quinta Summer Things To Do: All of our desert cities share “Things to do in the summer” such as shopping El Paseo, Hitting The River in Rancho Mirage, heading to downtown Palm Springs to shop, take in the Art galleries, Pool parties etc., and there’s also the Palm Desert Acquatic Center for swimming casually or doing your laps.
People looking for real estate know that if a Seller keeps their property on the market during the summer, they are serious! That means Land, Equestrian Properties and Residential..if they’re showing in the summers, the Sellers are generally pretty motivated! Call Kim for your property tour or Price Evaluation at 760-285-3578.
The Gem of the Desert, the city of La Quinta Summer Things To Do include the following, which are specific to the Eastern Coachella Valley City of La Quinta.

Quiet rules in Old Town La Quinta in the summer!
What a difference a week makes! Our Music Festivals are much loved, expected and appreciated by the Locals here in the Palm Springs Valley, BUT..we sure do love the relative quiet of our summers. La Quinta’s sidewalks are quiet, the streets are easy to maneuver through, and there are discounts for Locals pretty much everywhere you go. Happy Hours are supreme here in the summertime. I mean everywhere.
The Cliffhouse in la Quinta is a favorite of mine, but every restaurant in Old Town La Quinta has specials. As the weather heats up, people gravitate inside more and more. The reason??? The heat is so formidable that you can see it in waves bouncing off the sidewalks. Crazy thing is that as the heat gets more intense, the streets get quieter and quieter. You would believe the shops and restaurants are deserted…until you open a door, walk into the a/c, and desert life starts jumping!!
Summers here in the desert valley are hot, and tough, but the payoffs are so much fun for us “desert rats!” And a great time to look for property..if the Sellers are going to reduce or negotiate, the time is going to be the summer. Come on out and see for yourself!

Yesterday morning, fourteen dogs from the Palm Springs Animal Shelter were flown to Oregon where shelters are less crowded and there’s a greater chance for adoption, according to local animal volunteers. Otherwise, they may have been euthanized.
The dogs were shuttled out to the tarmac at the Palm Springs International Airport before 7am, where they were readied for transport by Wings of Rescue – a group of pilots who donate their services and aircraft to transport shelter animals to rescue organizations throughout the western United States.
There were Chihuahuas, Terriers and mixed breeds, all traveling in individual carriers. These dogs were chosen because they’ve been at the Palm Springs Animal Shelter for a long time. They were flown to the Humane Society of Redmond, OR, Hope’s Haven near Salem OR and Oregon Dog Rescue.
It’s hard to believe that the Oregon shelters are running short on dogs available for adoption, when our Palm Springs Valley here has such an overpopulation of dogs needing homes. The Oregon shelters have successful spay and neuter, fostering and adoption programs – and this frees up space for more rescues to come in.
Tanya Petrovna, board member of the Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter, says that the number of animals in our local shelters needs to be reduced and that the humane solution is to transfer the animals to a better situation.
The pilot, Yehuda Netanel, says that his canine passengers travel well. The flight to Oregon would take about three hours, and he said that eventually, the dogs lay down and go to sleep.
The volunteers were hoping to transport 17 dogs yesterday, but there just wasn’t enough room on the plane. Three of the dogs had to go back to the shelter in Palm Springs.
Heartbreaking. Hopefully these dogs will find homes soon !!!
Kudos to these wonderful volunteers who give of their time, money and heart to help protect and preserve the lives of animals. Our hats are off to you !!!
