This Internationally renowned Festival always gathers an eclectic collection of upcoming and established stars, then brings them to the beautiful Coachella Valley. The Music Festival Line up for 2016 is HERE! The Music Festival has become an integral part of our Valley, pretty much putting the city of Indio on the radar. 13 years ago, being a local, I would never have believed that people would not only know where Indio, California is, but would purchase property in the surrounding areas FOR their music festival visits! The Music Festival has also created a huge demand for Luxury Lease properties, further driving up the demand for Coachella Valley properties in Indio, and the Coachella Valley in general.

The Thermal Club in Thermal, California continues to impress. Locals are beginning to “get” what it’s bringing to our Coachella Valley. The surrounding Agricultural land, and it IS completely surrounded by acres and acres of farm land, has seen an increase in price/acre. The cars that are zooming around the track at the Club, are just a couple miles from the nearby HITS horse show entry! What??? Better yet is that equestrians OR car owners/drivers, can get to their chosen destinations by flying into the nearby Jacqueline Cochran airport. The Eastern Coachella Valley is on the MOVE!

Festivals coming up next weekend in the Coachella Valley. Indio is formally known as our desert “City of Festivals.”, but our desert should really be called “The Valley of the Festivals.” We all know by now of the magnitude of the Coachella Music Festival, followed by the Stagecoach Festival in April. I suppose the success of these Festivals, along with the original Indio Date Festival, has just naturally dovetailed into Festival this, and Festival that. No matter..this coming weekend, is a weekend of Festivals to kick off our follow up to Halloween, and intro to Thanksgiving Celebrations in the Coachella Valley.….

HITS Horseshow is back; Welcome Sunshine Series to Thermal, CA. For only the second year now, the newest addition to the Horseshow circuit here in Thermal, California, The HITS Horseshow Sunshine Series is back. Horses, their trainers, students, their grooms and many, many horse trailers fill the parking lot on Hwy 86 and Airport Blvd. This weekend is the beginning of the classes, and the Final jump offs will be next weekend, 11/7 and Sunday 11/8. What a great time to experience our beautiful Eastern city of Thermal..the weather is outstanding!

Halloween Hot Spots in our Desert. So you put together a great costume?? Wondering exactly where you can go and strut your stuff? Here are some fun Halloween Hot Spots to think about for Saturday night. Halloween is that one time a year, you can look as goofy or gross as you want to. You can also get out all your costume jewelry, (or real jewelry), and wear it ALL at one time..no choosing. Just slap it all on, put on a wig, face paint, whatever..and boldly head out the door.
We have many party options for Halloweeners here in the desert, so go crazy, and don the costume of the persona you secretly want to be. Well..at least for one night.

How about heading to The Purple Room on Saturday to hear Kal David and Lauri Bono sing their rockin blues? The Halloween Costume Contest begins at 10 pm with MONEY prizes!

International field at Eldorado Polo Club, Indio
Polo in the Coachella Valley; What’s the BIG deal? When I came to the desert over 30 years ago, I was a groom, hoping to one day be able to play polo professionally. I was overwhelmed by the scope of the Eldorado Polo Club at that time. It seemed to my eyes, that the fields went on and on, horses were everywhere, and Polo was the Valley’s Sport! What a dummy. In my small world of Polo and horses, EVERYONE knew about the club. In reality, when I meet with clients to show them property 30 years later, it is the rare individual that knows about our amazing East Valley horse Industry, and how it contributes to our Coachella Valley economy.

The Date Shed in Indio, California. If you’re looking for a good Music Venue in our East Valley City of Indio, be sure to hit The Date Shed. It’s very easy to find. Head to the Empire Polo Club off of Monroe St. The entry to The Date Shed is just North of the entry to The Tackroom Tavern and the Polo Club. The music at this venue is progressive, and the clientele is young..under 40 for the most part.
The Date Shed, owned and operated by Alex Haagen IV, has continued to make it’s mark on our East Valley Music scene. Local Bands, New Bands, Up and Comers, established Bands..all come to The Date Shed. The Cross Trail in Palm Desert offers hikers breathtaking views and a workout
Palm Desert is ripe with hiking opportunities. Many trails are close by and offer breathtaking panoramic views down into Palm Desert and out across the Coachella Valley to the San Andreas Faultline and north mountains beyond. “The Cross” trail, as it’s known to hikers, is exceptional.
PALM DESERT AND THE BEST HIKING IN THE VALLEY
The Cross is especially cool for several reasons. One is that you can bring your dog… some of Palm Desert’s other trails don’t allow them. Horses and Bikes are allowed, but it’s rare to cross paths with them. The trail is steep, gaining over 600 feet in elevation before reaching the large metal Cross (lighted at night) located on a promontory. Once there, you can look down into Stone Eagle Golf Course with its emerald green manicured fairways… a striking juxtaposition to the adjacent rocky landscape. And you just might happen upon Bighorn Sheep, as the area serves as their native habitat.
