Palm Desert to Become Sponsor of Modernism Week

Palm Desert Becoming Involved in Palm Springs Modernism WeekPalm Desert – Our desert has gained notoriety from Palm Springs’ annual event of Modernism Week.  People flock to our area from all over the country and the world to participate.  Palm Desert has at least two local entities that will be tying into Modernism Week, so it may for the first time become a sponsor of the event to the tune of $5,000.

Marrakesh Country Club,  Sandpiper and the Palm Springs Art Museum – Palm Desert branch all have plans to be involved in next year’s 8th annual Modernism Week scheduled for Feb. 14-23.  Marrakesh has scheduled its inaugural Designer Showcase, showing off its Hollywood Regency-style homes designed by renowned architect John Elgin Woolf.  The Palm Springs Art Museum in Palm Desert is also planning activities tied into the event and Sandpiper will be hosting home tours and possibly an El Paseo event involving art galleries.

As some of Palm Desert’s hotels and resorts see an increase in bookings during Modernism Week, involvement of these Palm Desert entities can only serve to bring more people in to Palm Desert and increase its visibility during this typically Palm Springs focused event.

Perhaps one day, all of the Desert Cities will have some type of involvement in this increasingly popular event.  And it’s all good.

Palm Desert’s Newest Treasure – Clementine Gourmet Marketplace

Clementine Gourmet Marketplace & Cafe - Palm Desert's Newest "Go To" PlaceIt’s a must go to in Palm Desert . . . if you like deliciously fresh, innovative and inspired food, a friendly warm and welcoming atmosphere, a place where people are meeting up and talking and laughing, somewhere to pick up cool FrencH and Mediterranean themed gifts . . . Clementine is all of that, and so much more !!!

It’s a deli, it’s a cafe, it’s a marketplace, you can get a beer, glass of wine . . . a Mimosa.  It’s the new “go to” place in the desert, and for having only been open for a matter of weeks, it’s doing gangbusters.

Jennifer and Christophe Douheret are the talented and creative couple who gave birth to Clementine – its first incarnation was located beside Trader Joe’s in Palm Desert two years ago where it began as Clementine Patisserie.  What a lovely little place where you could get a latte and something scrumptious that was baked right there onsite, like a fresh almond croissant.  The French bistro furniture out front of the store coaxed you to sit for a spell and enjoy the desert day.

Move the clock up to now – the second incarnation, which has morphed into Clementine Gourmet Marketplace & Café.  As it says on its Facebook page,  Clementine “is a beautiful homage to the bright marketplaces of ‘The Countries of the Sun, ‘ describing Italy, France, Spain, Morocco, and other countries along the Mediterranean.”  Jennifer, Christophe and their handsome, talented and attentive staff now offer a wide array of take-home deli items, delicate desserts, breakfast and lunch options, and fabulous gift ideas.

You can dine in at Clementine . . . or take out.  Stop by on your way home from work to pick up something mouthwatering for your dinner or a dinner party.  You can pick out dishes from the deli case, stop off at the pasta bar or just order a glass of wine and take in all of the good energy of the people working and dining there.

Don’t be surprised to be greeted at Clementine’s front door as if you are an old friend.  There is something at this establishment for everyone and you owe it to yourself to stop by and see for yourself.  I promise you won’t be disappointed.  But you may suffer a bit as you try to pick out which delectable dish from the many offered that you will nosh upon today.  Just remember, you can always go back and try something new another day.

Located at 72990 El Paseo (and Monterey) in Palm Desert.

Breakfast is served from 8 to 11 a.m. Monday through Saturday and all day Sunday. Lunch is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Palm Desert luxury homes

There's a reason it's called "Bighorn"

Bighorn Golf Club real estate is regarded by many as the top luxury golf community in the Desert !!!  First of all, a club named after our beautiful indigenous Bighorn Sheep has got to be special . . . and it certainly is.  Tucked into the foothills of the Santa Rosa Mountains, you might actually get to see Bighorn sheep while you’re playing one of the Club’s two distinct championship courses – Mountain Course or Canyons Course.  What’s really cool is the tunnel under Hwy. 74 that links the two courses together.

You can also look down on beautiful Bighorn while you’re hiking the Art Smith Trail – the trail head is located on the rt. hand side of Hwy. 74 about 1/4 mile after passing Bighorn’s main entrance . . . and offers panoramic views, a possible viewing of Bighorn Sheep in their natural habitat,  several palm oases, and an abundance of wildflowers, cactus and other desert flora and fauna.

Bighorn Golf Club homes are within a few minutes drive down the hill to the fashionable El Paseo Shopping District with its gourmet restaurants, quaint cafes, upscale shopping, boutiques, art galleries and so much more.  You’ve got the Best of Both Worlds living in Bighorn – quiet and serene while surrounded by pristine desert habitat, and just minutes away from the desert’s very own “Rodeo Drive.”  What more could the discerning buyer ask for???
