La Quinta

Locals LOVE the summers in the Palm Springs Valley

Quiet rules in Old Town La Quinta in the summer!

Quiet rules in Old Town La Quinta in the summer!

What a difference a week makes!  Our Music Festivals are much loved, expected and appreciated by the Locals here in the Palm Springs Valley, BUT..we sure do love the relative quiet of our summers.  La Quinta’s sidewalks are quiet, the streets are easy to maneuver through, and there are discounts for Locals pretty much everywhere you go.  Happy Hours are supreme here in the summertime.  I mean everywhere.

The Cliffhouse in la Quinta is a favorite of mine, but every restaurant in Old Town La Quinta has specials.  As the weather heats up, people gravitate inside more and more.  The reason???  The heat is so formidable that you can see it in waves bouncing off the sidewalks.  Crazy thing is that as the heat gets more intense, the streets get quieter and quieter.  You would believe the shops and restaurants are deserted…until you open a door, walk into the a/c, and desert life starts jumping!!

Summers here in the desert valley are hot, and tough, but the payoffs are so much fun for us “desert rats!”  And a great time to look for property..if the Sellers are going to reduce or negotiate, the time is going to be the summer.  Come on out and see for yourself!

La Quinta Golf Course Communities

La Quinta owners golf cheap at Silver Rock!

La Quinta owners golf cheap at Silver Rock!

I often have potential La Quinta home buyers ask me what the main difference is between Golf, and Non-golf course communities.  La Quinta has both.  We have both Public and Private courses, and our La Quinta Public course, Silver Rock is gorgeous, welcoming and stellar!  Well, the obvious difference is the GOLF of course, but a little less understood is the difference in monthly HOA dues, level of traffic, rights of home-owners, and many other things.  Living on a golf course is great…if you’re a golfer!  Maybe not a preference if you’re a “sometime golfer”, who would just asoon have quiet and privacy.

La Quinta Golf Course Communities are many, but a few of the Most Popular are, The Tradition, The Citrus, The Hideaway, Mountain View CC, and of course at the top of the pile is the stunning Madison Club.

Because there are several clubs to choose between, do your research with a local Realtor, who knows the different clubs, and what each has to offer.  If you’re a serious golfer, or more of a social family that also golfs, your home choice may be quite different.  Budget is another consideration.  Be sure to factor in the HOA, and be very clear on the clubs’ amenities.  If you’re thinking of buying in La Quinta, give me a call..I’ll be happy to show you around!

The Quarry—Perfect for the Equestrian & Golf Family

The Quarry golf courseIf you’re looking for one of the best private golf communities in the Palm Springs Valley, The Quarry at La Quinta is perfect—plus, it has something for everyone in the family. For the equestrian wife who competes in horse shows, the renowned Horses in the Sun (HITS) Desert Circuit takes place in nearby Thermal at the state-of-the-art HITS Desert Horse Park. The husband with a passion for golf will always be able to get his fill at the championship 18-hole course or the 10-hole short course at the Quarry, both designed by the legendary Tom Fazio. If you’re looking for homes for sale in La Quinta, this gorgeous, exclusive community is a must-see.

Tucked into the foothills between the Coral and Santa Rosa Mountains, the beauty of this location is inspiring and private—an enclave where undulating fairways and incredible landscape provide a backdrop for the sheer natural beauty of the desert. The stunning homes are architecturally diverse and each homesite is positioned to showcase and enjoy the environment.

The Quarry was originally founded by two avid golfers seeking less crowded courses, who purchased 105 acres in La Quinta. They were then joined by 13 founding associates, who together purchased the adjacent 255 acres, which comprise The Quarry today. If you’re looking for homes for sale in beautiful La Quinta, you’ll want to see what’s available among the 100+ homes and sites that range from move-in ready properties, The Villas that offer three floor plans up to 4,600 square feet, or residences that may be custom designed for your family’s needs.

While The Quarry offers premier levels of privacy and safety with round-the-clock security, residents can easily access all that La Quinta has to offer, from the chic boutiques and fine dining options of Old Town La Quinta to picturesque hiking and biking trails in the vicinity. Horse lovers and equestrians can quickly get to Thermal for the 6-week HITS Desert Circuit, or nearby Indio to enjoy polo at one of the beautiful clubs, the Eldorado Polo Club or the Empire Polo Club.

The luxury provided by this member-owned golf club is perfectly exemplified by the stunning courses, set against the pristine desert landscape with distinctly elevated areas, waterfalls, streams and lush native plants and trees. As a result, The Quarry’s championship course is ranked in the top 50 among Golf Digest’s 100 top courses and has attracted a wide range of golf legends, from Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson to Arnold Palmer and many others. The elegant 21,000 square foot Mediterranean style clubhouse features a spacious veranda and serves breakfast, lunch and sometimes dinner. There is also a golf shop and fitness center with a tennis court, pool and spa.

Finding Your Dream Neighborhood

If you’ve got your financial house in order and have pre-qualified for a loan, you’re probably itching to start house hunting. Before you start scheduling viewings of Palm Springs real estate and trying to find the perfect house, your next step should be scouting out the neighborhoods you’re interested in.

Whether you’re interested in real estate in La Quinta or properties in Indio, the neighborhood where you live will have great impact on your life. It will affect your commute, the schools that your children attend, your proximity to dining and shopping options, access to recreational activities and whether or not your children can play safely outdoors, among other aspects.

One of the easiest ways to ensure that you’re looking at the right neighborhoods when you’re viewing listings of Palm Springs homes for sale is to work with a realtor that has local expertise. They will know which areas are safest and most convenient, and may already have some ideas for you when it comes to available listings.

Once you get some suggestions from your realtor, get in your car and explore the neighborhoods they recommend. Assess the general appearance of the residences in the area—are they nicely landscaped and maintained? Do you see children playing? Is there a park or playground nearby? If you’re single or one half of a new couple, does there seem to be others in the same age range living there? On the other end of the spectrum, are you looking for a place to retire? You may already be certain that you’re interested in real estate in La Quinta or Palm Desert, for example, but a real estate professional will be able to give you deeper insight about the strengths and weaknesses of the specific areas you’re interested in, and can provide information about property values and the community’s overall health.
