Polo and HITS update.  Summer is winding down, the weather is cooling, and the polo fields are under attack!!  Desert Trip is about here, and the two polo clubs, Empire and Eldorado, are both construction sites!  Trucks, fences, tents, workers…everywhere.  The Empire Polo club will begin it’s 2017 season officially on January 1, with polo tournaments every weekend after that.  The Eldorado Polo Club, which is right next door, also begins it’s season in January.  While both Polo clubs are rocking and rolling with Polo games, the nearby HITS Horseshow grounds in Thermal, are preparing their grounds for the influx of horses and trainers.   [Read more…]

Is the Canadian market heading down the road to a crash?

What’s the Canadian real estate market doing?  I asked myself this question at the end of last season..about June of this year.  Not having a huge number of Canadian buyers in my real estate sales, it was interesting to hear all the agents lamenting about the fleeing of Canadians from our market.  We do have a large number of Canadians who purchased their Winter Vacation homes in the desert.  Our gorgeous winters, and quick flights to Vancouver certainly helped this market. But also..Canadians LOVE  a deal!!  When we were in recovery from our own real estate bomb, which ended about 4th quarter of 2011, scores of Canadians and other International buyers and investors, as well as our own Fix-n-flippers, snapped up bargain properties.  We have been moving laterally for the past several years in our price/sf. real estate closings, and our market has largely stabilized.  An interesting read this morning in the Vancouver Sun, caused me to think about the Canadian real estate market and how it might affect our own Coachella Valley real estate market. Huge Tax Windfall highlights BC’s real estate dependence.   [Read more…]

Equestrian Properties for 2017.  2016 is not over, but my Equestrian Sellers are either wrapping up because we’ve SOLD their property, OR getting geared up to JUST LIST their Equestrian Estates for the 2017 season.  The Coachella Valley is an extremely active area for horse lovers.  The East Valley in particular offers lots of open land, BLM land, a myriad of trails, riding clubs, and of course the HITS circuit and the International Polo Circuit.  HITS Thermal is an A rated horseshow, running from January through March.  The Sunshine series is in November, and includes competition for ponies.  The Polo is spectacular as well… [Read more…]

Summer Sales are Sizzling in the Coachella Valley!  I know it’s not because the air temperatures have cooled down because we are pretty much guaranteed triple digits every day.  I suspect it’s more a leveling out of all the negative news from the first quarter of 2016..crashing oil prices, Asian Stock Market crash, Canadian dollar crash, and we cannot forget that it’s an election year.  All these things combined to help buyers put on the brakes for the first Q of 2016.  The second Q was smokin however, for our Coachella Valley summer sales, and the third Quarter summer sales are starting out the same.  Desert Home Sales jumped approx. 12% in June. I’m finding that all my listings are getting activity, or are in escrow, from the ultra affordable Condos below $100,000 – luxury Equestrian estates at 3-4 million.  With Loans lower than ever (thank you Brexit!), it’s a great time to buy the Coachella Valley, give me a call at 760-285-3578. Empire Polo Club offers summer Polo

Polo in Indio, CA. in the summer.  Well, yesterday was 120 degrees here in the Coachella Valley, and today looks to be about the same.  Now, today there is a cloud cover, but it is still HOT!  Our local summer Polo still rages on at the Empire Polo Club, in Indio, California.    Chukkars are played Wednesday through Sunday, starting at 7:30 a.m.  Most of the players are trainers on young horses learning the game, or players that need the chukkars to improve their games.  Manager, Vicki Owens, runs a tight ship organizing the Polo games at the Club in Indio, CA.  After watching a game, how about taking a quick tour to see some properties for sale??  My summer is always busy showing ranches, farms, land and homes in the Coachella Valley, states Kim Kelly, local Realtor.  Give me a call for your personal property tour today at 760-285-3578.
