Arnold Palmers’ Restaurant is walking distance away…
Desert Club Estates in La Quinta, Calif. This is a very unique neighborhood. It’s location is brillliant, tucked behind The Citrus Golf Club and across the street from The Tradition Golf Club. Put on your tennis, grab your bike, or jump into your Golf Cart and head to Silver Rock Resort, Arnold Palmers’ Restaurant, Old Town La Quinta, Fritz Burns park for a game of Tennis. Behind the wall on the corner of Washington and 52nd lies this non-gated, non-golf course community with NO monthly HOA’s!
What I love the best about this “hole in the wall” desert community, is the location. You can literally walk across Washington at Tampico, and head to the La Quinta Library, take a Yoga class at the Yoga studio, take a stroll through the park like grounds of the La Quinta Civic Center, hit the new Wellness Center, or head on to Old town La Quinta to shop or grab a meal. Biking is another way to get around. If you want exercise, head across 52nd to the Fritz Burns Park, where there are public Tennis courts, a public Pool, or watch the kids in the Skate Park. Hiking? Just head up Bermudas to the Top of the Cove, where there are several Trail heads, and head out. Golf at the public Silverrock course, or several nearby other public golf courses.
La Quinta Cove; A favorite of Locals and Visitors. The “Cove”, as Locals refer to it, has been a favorite of mine since my Polo playing days. When I, and maybe one or two other players needed a seasonal place to stay, we almost always chose the La Quinta Cove. We could find a nice home, in a beautiful area, that was reasonably priced, and just far enough away from the Polo fields to give us a bit of autonomy. It still remains a favorite today. The Cove is an eclectic collection of single family homes, approx. 1200 of them, that hug the base of the mountains in one of the prettiest Coves in the desert.
No HOA’s here, and it’s very obvious! Homes can be any architectural style, and a wide range of Colors. The Cove is also home to approx. 28 “Casitas” that were built in the 1930’s – 40’s, and originally sold as retreats for many of Hollywood’s celebrities of the time. Classic adobe, with red tile roofs, white stucco walls, and original wood doors, the original Casitas were built in the style of the La Quinta Hotel, and are still much in demand.
Black Rock Campground in Yucca Valley, Calif. What is so magical about this Campground? The first time I saw it, I just could not believe it. It’s like being out in the middle of the high desert, think Joshua Tree Park, yet there is a specific area to park your horse trailer and keep your horses! Sweet.
On your way up, you’ll pass the newly re-opened, (2015), Hawk’s Landing Golf Club. Designed for people who don’t have the time for an entire 18 hole game, it is designed with two 6-hole loops..meant to bring the fun back into the game! Side note here..there is an events co-ordinator at the club so if you have a special event coming up, you might consider this beautiful high desert setting. On to Black Rock…
The Tackroom Tavern is right next to The Date Shed
The Date Shed in Indio, California. If you’re looking for a good Music Venue in our East Valley City of Indio, be sure to hit The Date Shed. It’s very easy to find. Head to the Empire Polo Club off of Monroe St. The entry to The Date Shed is just North of the entry to The Tackroom Tavern and the Polo Club. The music at this venue is progressive, and the clientele is young..under 40 for the most part.

Local Bands, New Bands, Up and Comers, established Bands..all come to The Date Shed. The Hideaway Club, La Quinta, California will be offering a spectacular Custom, single family home for sale. This will be the only Southwest Facing home for UNDER $3,000,000! Located on one of the most unique lots in the club because there is only one neighbor..the Hideway has graciously provided, and maintains, a very large rolling Berm to the North. Not only does that make this corner home site feel MUCH larger, but it also provides an extraordinary buffer providing the homeowners with privacy. To top it off this berm has HOA maintained flowing streams and waterfalls. Pretty unusual on a golf course!
The Berm Creek on the right of the Pool
This home is approximately 5,700 sf with 4 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, including an over sized detached Casita. Built in 2007, this incredible home has been recently updated by it’s current owners. New Interior paint, new Light fixtures and custom Chandeliers, a new floor in the Master Suite, and updated Landscaping and exterior lights. Master Suite, guest bedroom, dining room and Den are on the entry floor. A beautiful wooden staircase leads upstairs to a second Master Suite, with kitchenette, walk in closets and master bathroom. Madison Club; La Quinta Market Update: The Madison Club in La Quinta is THE Club if you’re looking for super exclusive, and ultra secure. A private community centered in our Eastern Valley surrounded by dramatic desert mountains. The Mediterranean style clubhouse offers incredible views..as well as food that will impress anyone. Discovery Land Company, which is also developing the neighboring Hideaway Golf Club, has a reputation of turning out High Class, Luxury Resorts, and The Madison Club is definitely one of them!
The Madison Club in La Quinta is ON FIRE! During the crash, lots and existing home sales pretty much stood still. Now, however, lots are being snapped up with prices ranging from approx. $900,000 to approx. 2.2 million. Lots are typically very large, starting at approx. 30,000 sf up to over an acre. There are even larger home sites, but most of the really large ones have exquisite homes on them. Resales are also strong since last season. Very few homes get listed as most owners build their homes specifically for themselves, although some homes are currently being built on spec.
Hideaway Golf Club; La Quinta Neighborhood of the week. The Hideaway Golf Club in La Quinta is nicknamed “the social golf club” for good reason. Every Holiday, (and excuse), is celebrated at the beautiful Clubhouse. Children and relatives are welcome..just fun times for everybody. Gated, with 24 hour security for a very reasonable $600/mo. HOA, the impressive gatehouse swings open to Citrus lined streets. The Hideaway Clubhouse is the heartbeat of the club and this is where all the Parties begin..and often end!! The Hideaway Club is situated on 600 acres that are surrounded by Exceptional mountain Views. Why the superior Views? Our Eastern city of La Quinta is VERY close to the Santa Rosa Mountain foothills, which makes you feel like you are RIGHT at the mountain base.
The Hideaway is being developed by The Discovery Group. Homes are still under construction by them, and custom homes are being built by buyers on their own personal lots. There are four different property types being built at The Hideaway in La Quinta. The Discovery Group is also responsible for the neighboring very exclusive Golf Club, The Madison Club.
Indian Wells Market Update. The City of Indian Wells is located in the middle of our Valley floor. It’s Eastern border is the city of La Quinta, and it’s Western border is the City of Palm Desert, and Rancho Mirage. People choose Indian Wells for several reasons. If you love Tennis, there’s the Indian Wells Tennis Gardens, host to the BNP Tennis Tournament. If you’re someone that simply likes being in the Center of things, what a great choice. You’re close to everything, including El Paseo with it’s shops, a short drive to La Quinta’s Old Town, Palm Deserts’ Museum, hiking, bike trails and of course, the stellar golfing. Indian Wells is known for it’s amazing Resident discounts on a myriad of local restaurants and amenities, including Golf at the Indian Wells Country Club.
Why buy in Thermal, California? Nobody used to even KNOW where the City of Thermal actually was..even Locals that live here in the Palm Springs Valley weren’t sure where it was. The City of Thermal began as a railroad camp in 1910 for employees of the Southern Pacific Railroad. Agricultural runoff from canal irrigation made the area thrive in the 1950’s. The Camp Young US Naval Air Station converted into Thermal Airport by 1965. Hwy 86, the main drag came about in the 1990’s, constructed over an earlier transportation route. The Population is around 4,000, and the average summer temperatures can be well into the triple digits. But…“What is there to DO in Thermal???”
The Jacqueline Cochran Airport is a thriving private and commercial airport. Helicoptor lessons and tours are offered here, as well as a flight school.
The Thermal Club is a private motor sports facility located on approx. 344 acres. Offering “Driving Packages” for guests, it will Rev your motor for sure!
