The Quarry at La Quinta offers an exclusive desert lifestyle
La Quinta’s golf community The Quarry is quite unique… and there are many reasons why it has been recognized by Travel and Leisure Magazine as one of America’s top golf communities. If you’ve ever visited The Quarry, you would immediately understand. Its picturesque location, nestled in a cove at the base of the Coral and Santa Rosa Mountains on an old mining site, creates an allure and feeling of total exclusivity, privacy and security. This is where Native Americans roamed and the Old West once flourished. Life-size bronze sculptures strategically placed around the property artfully pay homage to the land’s history.
Hidden up a curving entrance road, the Fazio designed golf course at The Quarry cuts a dramatic oasis-like swath up the cove… with manicured fairways and four lakes, streams and waterfalls encircled by lush indigenous landscaping. Owning a home at The Quarry is a privilege unlike anywhere else in the Palm Springs Valley.
La Quinta Country Club’s spectacular clubhouse offers stunning views of the Santa Rosa Mountains
La Quinta Country Club has a long standing history of tradition and excellence, founded in 1959 by a group who wanted to create a Country Club like none other in the Palm Springs Valley at that time. And that’s exactly what they did by turning 130 acres of raw desert into a championship golf course in just 8 short months. By 1962, the USA Championships were held at La Quinta Country Club, bringing TV coverage that put the course in the limelight and eventually attracted the Palm Springs Golf Classic (later to become the Bob Hope Classic) to the Club.
LA QUINTA COUNTRY CLUB LEGACY
Originally, the golf course at LQCC was built solely for the La Quinta Resort. In 1971, it was purchased by its members and became a private equity club. Its original clubhouse, a spacious Mediterranean style structure completed in 1966, was damaged by a series of earthquakes and was eventually rendered unusable. In its place now stands a stunning new clubhouse facility where members can play some of the best golf in the Palm Springs Valley, socialize and participate in a myriad of activities and enjoy the finest dining offering California Cuisine. Keep in mind that the LQCC is member financed, owned and managed… assuring their tradition of excellence is kept high.
IS THERE A CLASSIER GOLF COMMUNITY THAN TRADITION?
Tradition Golf Club’s scenic beauty speaks for itself
La Quinta, California is known for having some of the world’s most beautiful and well respected golf communities in existence. The Tradition Golf Club easily comes to mind at the top of the list, with its classically understated and elegant entrance, strategically located where Washington St. dead ends into Avenue 52 – and when you’re at the stoplight on Washington, you’re looking right at it.
The strikingly large and colorful seasonal flowerbeds at the entrance to Tradition in La Quinta, California hug the gentle berms like blankets – and every season is a surprise to see what color and type of flowers are planted in the manicured beds. The canopied trees and classically styled gate house with bougainvillea arbors set the tone for a Golf Club that’s nothing less than special. Tradition’s exclusive membership is limited to 250 members… by invitation only. So as a member at Tradition, you are entitled to the ultimate in service, dining and amenities.

What makes the Norman Estates at PGA West in La Quinta different than other golf course communities? There are several unique characteristics of this small, friendly, “neighborhood within a community.” Greg Norman designed the community as well as the Norman course that flows around it. The Norman course is the only desert style golf course at PGA West, and now with the drought, we can see that it was ahead of it’s time! There is also a friendly “Australian style” clubhouse, that is warm and friendly.
Each course at PGA West is gated, with 24 hour monitoring. The Norman Estates at PGA West, has a second, pass code protected gate within the PGA West entry gate, creating a really private community. There are only 58 semi-custom homes at Norman Estates. The neighborhood is Tuscan inspired, lots are very large for golf course homes, (smallest is 14,000+ sf.), and there are several exterior elevations, helping to create a varied look from home to home.
I was the original onsite Sales Manager, when these homes were built in 2005-2006, and know each home on each lot intimately! Take the video below to see just one example of the homes at Norman Estates, PGA West. Streets are wide, mature trees offer shady walking, neighbors are friendly and the feeling is one of a true neighborhood at the Norman Estates in PGA West in La Quinta, California. HOA is approx. $550/month and home prices range from approx. $975,000 – approx. $1,500,000.

Are you going to be a year round resident, vacation home owner, or Investment Property owner? Do you want Golf Facilities, Equestrian Facilities, Swim facilities..what do you like to do? Then there is always the issue of financing.
What steps do you need to undertake to obtain a Loan? This short video will help you with this one..Once you have your financing in place, another important aspect to buying a home in La Quinta, is “do I want a Golf course, gated, La Quinta Community?” What do you get for your monthly HOA (Homeowners payments?) Will you use these amenities? Move slowly and thoughtfully toward your home purchase, and use a local Realtor that understands the Local market trends and areas.
La Quinta, California is steaming ahead through the summer months when it comes to Million dollar + priced property sales. Between June 30 and today, there have been 43 La Quinta properties in this price point put into Escrow, or SOLD. Most of the Sales have been in the HOT, HOT, HOT community of Andalusia. Several other La Quinta golf developments have recent sales, including one closed at The Hideaway for $2.3+ million. There are 3 homes in Escrow at The Citrus, as well as one closed sale at 1.235 million. One home closed at Lake La Quinta, and PGA West steps up with 2 homes closed and 2 in escrow..all over 1.1 million. I often have potential La Quinta home buyers ask me what the main difference is between Golf, and Non-golf course communities. La Quinta has both. We have both Public and Private courses, and our La Quinta Public course, Silver Rock is gorgeous, welcoming and stellar! Well, the obvious difference is the GOLF of course, but a little less understood is the difference in monthly HOA dues, level of traffic, rights of home-owners, and many other things. Living on a golf course is great…if you’re a golfer! Maybe not a preference if you’re a “sometime golfer”, who would just asoon have quiet and privacy.
La Quinta Golf Course Communities are many, but a few of the Most Popular are, The Tradition, The Citrus, The Hideaway, Mountain View CC, and of course at the top of the pile is the stunning Madison Club.
Because there are several clubs to choose between, do your research with a local Realtor, who knows the different clubs, and what each has to offer. If you’re a serious golfer, or more of a social family that also golfs, your home choice may be quite different. Budget is another consideration. Be sure to factor in the HOA, and be very clear on the clubs’ amenities. If you’re thinking of buying in La Quinta, give me a call..I’ll be happy to show you around!
